Cosmic Ray is worlds-renowned for his popular chain of Starlight Cafes, with franchises throughout the universe, but his first and biggest restaurant is located right here in the city of Tomorrowland. Guests dining in the Starlight Lounge are treated to an incredible view of the galaxy beyond:
And for a limited time only, the inimitable Sonny Eclipse is holding court in the lounge for the entertainment pleasure of Ray's guests.
Direct from Yew Nork on the planet Zork, Sonny Eclipse is the "Biggest Little Star in the Galaxy." Enjoy the Bossa Supernova and Eclipso musical stylings of Sonny and his Astro Organ, along with ethereal backup singers The Space Angels. His act is not to be missed on any trip to Tomorrowland.
Ok so I am an idiot but in all the times we've gone to WDW we have never eaten at Cosmic Rays and I didn't even think that the animated show was still there. Anyway, can you tell me if this is a quick service restaurant? You are making me a WDW Trivia expert, thanks Shawn. Kristin
ReplyDeleteCosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland is actually the largest quick service restaurant in all of Walt Disney World. There are three separate bays where Guests may choose from burgers, chicken entrees, or salads & sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteThe location was originally called Tomorrowland Terrace (a name now used elsewhere). The main dining room featured a stage that would rise from beneath the floor, presenting live entertainment in the form of contemporary cover bands. In later years, the bands were replaced by a video screen showing DTV music videos from the Disney Channel.
Sonny Eclipse was added in 1995 as part of the second phase of the New Tomorrowland project. He sits atop the old stage lift, which still exists and operates. The stage is occasionally used for special events, rising up to provide a space for bands or a DJ.
Even though the pods concept isn't practical with groups in my opinion, I still like the restaurant and Sonny is a Disney parks classic character now. Great info on the restaurant's details as usual Shawn!
