Within Serka Zong, other businesses have started to spring up to service the needs of all the tourists coming to the area. At Tashi's Trek and Tongba Shop, climbers setting out to conquer the great mountain can get whatever supplies they need. Tashi has a healthy supply of rope, boots, packs, bedrolls, first aid kits and other equipment to outfit an expedition.
Those who are perhaps a bit nervous about the pending climb might also be interested in the tongba. Tongba is a traditional Nepalese alcoholic beverage, made from fermented millet (a type of grain).
Whether your ascent of Everest is successful or not, you'll want to take home a souvenir of your journey. The shops of Serka Zong carry plenty of those as well, including these little plush Yetis... one of whom seems bound for a certain theme park. One can almost hear the commercial now: "Yeti, you just pushed back intruders from the Forbidden Mountain... What are you going to do next?"
I absolutely love the queue for Expedition: Everest. And now knowing that there's a little yeti sporting little Mickey ears only increases that love. Thanks for pointing it out!
