Mouse-saics

Leading up to Disneyland's 50th Anniversary, the park invited Guests to submit photos of themselves enjoying a visit to the Happiest Place on Earth. The program, deemed "The Happiest Faces on Earth," compiled those images into thirty giant photo mosaics, creating tableaux of Disney characters and scenes. The "Steamboat Willie" mosaic just off Town Square on Main Street (above) used images of Disneyland Cast Members.

Placed at ground level, the images used in the "Steamboat Willie" mosaic were easy to see. In other cases, like with the Buzz Lightyear mosaic in Tomorrowland, they were higher and a bit more challenging. A nice camera zoom could do the trick, though.

Photo mosaics were spread throughout Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure, with each tableaux a thematic match for its setting. One could find the Hitchhiking Ghosts in front of the Haunted Mansion, Maleficent behind Sleeping Beauty Castle in Fantasyland, and Walt Disney with Mickey Mouse inside the lobby of the Main Street Opera House.

Over at Disney's California Adventure, mosaics around Sunshine Plaza celebrated the park's attractions inspired by Monsters, Inc. and A Bug's Life.

Unfortunately, I missed the submission deadline and didn't get a picture of my own included in the "Happiest Faces on Earth." I managed to find some familiar faces, though. Right there in the image of Flik was a shot of my friends Rebecca Godsil and Christopher White, along with their fellow 2005 Walt Disney World Ambassador teammate Jeannie Amendola... oh, and Mickey Mouse, too!
