Minnie's Country Cottage

That house on the corner, the pink and lavender one covered in hearts, could belong to none other than Miss Minnie Mouse herself. Minnie's country house, done in classic Toon style with plenty of character and curvy lines, is a must-visit during your day at the Fair.

Today, Minnie's hosting an open house. Step inside her living room and right away you'll discover Minnie's love of family. On the mantle are portraits of her parents, along with a picture of herself as a baby. Other photos around the room are of distant relatives and one not-so-distant acquaintance, her sweetheart Mickey.

The radio in the corner is tuned to the Red Barns Show on W-A-C-K-Y Wacky Radio:

If you like, you can even sit a spell. Enjoy Minnie's displays of Disney collectibles. Admire her prize-winning sculpture of the Miss Daisy. You can even brush up on your Mouse history with a coffee table book, or thumb through the latest issue of Cosmousepolitan Magazine.

Step around the corner into the craft room, and you'll find that Minnie has many unsung talents aside from singing and acting. She loves to sew, quilt, sculpt and paint, too. She's even the editor of her own magazine, Minnie's Cartoon Country Living. Several recent covers are proudly framed on her walls.

In the corner of the craft room is Minnie's latest piece, a painting she created earlier today. It just so happens, Minnie was painting the scene outside her front window at the same moment Goofy was crashing his plane into the water tower of Wise Acres Farm.

Down the hall is a small desk Minnie uses for sorting mail, writing notes, checking the answering machine and doing assorted other tasks. It's fun to listen in on the voicemail messages, but there are plenty of interesting things to be found posted on the bulletin board, too. Here can be found references to everything from the Big Bad Wolf to Jiminy Cricket's "I'm No Fool" series on the "Mickey Mouse Club" to "Mousercise," a kids' workout program from the early years of Disney Channel.

The kitchen table has been set with tea and cookies (though try as you might, you just can't get your hands on one).

Minnie's refrigerator is covered with photos, notes, recipes and a shopping list. Judging from what's inside, she might want to expand her shopping a bit beyond the dairy aisle. Of course, being a mouse, she does love her cheese!

For kids visiting Minnie's house, there are lots of things to do here in the kitchen. They can pop popcorn, play percussion with the pots and pans or help bake a cake for Mickey's birthday. It's easy. Just turn up the heat and watch the cake rise from the pan... frosting and all!

The final stop on the tour is the sunroom out back. Minnie enjoys tending to her garden, and she's quite the green thumb. Using Clarabelle's Big Book of Pun Plants as her guide, Minnie has grown excellent specimens of dandylions, two-lips, Daisies and potted palms.

Over the years, some have speculated (often rudely) as to why there is no bedroom in Minnie's house. Of course, this is a silly notion. There is a bedroom in the house, but Minnie's a lady. Some things are meant to remain private. Her room just isn't on the tour.

Passing the backyard garden gazebo, we head under the arbor and leave Minnie's house to head off and enjoy the rest of Mickey's Toontown Fair.
