Stop in at Pete's Garage...

... or on second thought, don't.

For Guests heading in or out of Toontown, a likely stop might be Pete's Garage for a fill up of Gulp Gas or maybe just a potty break.

It's appropriate that Pete's is the first location one encounters in Mickey's Toontown Fair. After all, Pete is the longest-running character in the Disney stable. His career started in the mid-20s with the Alice in Cartoonland shorts, but unlike other characters from that era, Pete is still going strong with appearances in "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse."

While he may not always play the villain, Pete is definitely a scoundrel. In Toontown, he operates the local service station, but one would probably be wise to bypass this establishment and look for a more trustworthy mechanic.

Of course, even if you're just stopping to use the facilities, you won't have an easy time of it. The restroom key has been dropped into the tank of gas. Luckily, there are additional public restrooms just around the corner.

Pay phones are available here, too. Notice that the graphic pointing the way pictures a decidedly old-fashioned telephone. This is actually in keeping with the period in which many of the Pete films were made.

At the side of the garage is a drinking fountain built out of the side of a cabinet of oil cans. Even this detail is typical Pete, but doesn't he know that oil and water don't mix?

  1. Shawn,

Can you tell me where can I find a Pete's doll?

  2. Enrique,

That's a tough one. I don't know of any currently available in the US. A quick search on eBay found a listing under "Pete Outlaw Bean Bag." It closes on Friday 11/27, if you see this before then. Otherwise, the only other place I've ever seen Pete dolls was in a shop called Steamboat Mickey's in the American Waterfront section of Tokyo DisneySEA. Of course, that was nearly seven years ago. I don't know if they still have them or if they even offer a mail order service. You can check their website. Just follow the Tokyo Disney Resort link on disneydestinations.com.

    Good luck!
    Shawn
